Fred,
Do we (or does the fire sprinkler plan designer) know what the volume of supply is needed?
The current 3/4" valve (without restriction) can move up to 30 gallons a minute. (the 1 inch valve can move up to 50 gallons a minute).
The guy at the City says that if we need to go with a 1 inch, it could take up to a month to get that set up (as they need to put the project out to bid, then dig out to connect to the main line... and it would cost us between $5000-$6000)... so he wanted me to double-check with the sprinkler designer.
I'm hoping the sprinklers need less than 30... but let me know if it's more, and I'll get the process started with the City.

And just minutes earlier, I sent off an email with model numbers for the shower/tub faucets for the three bathrooms, which Fred requested. The vendor he suggested, Ferguson, carries both Price-Pfister and Moen, the makers of the fixtures Lisa and I picked out last month. Hopefully these meet with Fred's approval (even though they were relatively inexpensive).
I'm waiting for a response back on the "volume of supply" email... I'm hoping we don't have to put in a new tap to the main... that 6K would REALLY hurt.

UPDATE: obviously, the heat wave is not over... we've just had our third power outage of the last 4 hours (I'm assuming brownouts)... thank goodness for the UPS... but I'll need to shut down the computers before I leave to pick Jack up... just to be safe
