Sleepless in NY

It's morning. I woke today after a sleepless night of fitful dreams (I lost toes while walking through the house in the rain... with every drop that hit my feet [even under the plywood roof... it was like a hurricane], the drop would cause a toe to come off and fly up to the ceiling and into a fire sprinkler pvc... hmmm, stress, anyone?), to find a text message on my phone (which has also been acting as my alarm clock): Success! from Lisa. I guess she found all the fixtures (at Home Depot, since they weren't at Lowe's... where she did find the tub). I texted back Xclnt. But I still didn't feel much better... I was still stressed, depressed, and more than a little tired.

After a couple of minutes at the computer, checking email and news, the phone rang... wtf... it was Lisa from home. My mind raced through all the doomsday possibilities. She just woke up to get a drink of water and go to the bathroom, and she knew I would be up by now. She called to tell me she loved me. I told her I loved her too and sent her back to bed.

That made me feel much better... lessening her call's wonderful elixir effect were these pics/forecasts off weather.com:

Chance of rain begins in three hours and stays at between 40 and 60% for the next 36 hours (it dips to under 10% only 1 of those hours). Here's the National Weather Service had the following alert:

...A VERY RARE AND COLD SEPTEMBER STORM ON TAP FOR THURSDAY AND FRIDAY...

ON THURSDAY...THE STORM WILL MOST LIKELY BE CENTERED OFF THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA COAST...TRACKING TO THE SOUTHWEST OF POINT CONCEPTION ON THURSDAY NIGHT. DURING THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT...THE STORM WILL MOSTLY AFFECT THE CENTRAL COAST AND THE OUTER COASTAL WATERS WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. SOME OF THE THUNDERSTORMS COULD PRODUCE SMALL HAIL.

CURRENTLY MOST OF THE COMPUTER MODELS SHOW FRIDAY TO BE THE MOST ACTIVE DAY...ESPECIALLY FROM SOUTHERN SANTA BARBARA COUNTY TO LOS ANGELES COUNTY AS THE STORM SLOWLY WORKS ITS WAY EASTWARD ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. ON FRIDAY...SHOWERS ARE LIKELY IN MOST AREAS... AND THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. ANY THUNDERSTORM WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING BRIEF HEAVY RAINS AND SMALL HAIL. DUE TO THE COLD AND UNSTABLE NATURE OF THIS STRONG UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM...CONDITIONS WILL ALSO BE FAVORABLE FOR POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT AND FUNNEL CLOUD ACTIVITY.

THERE IS A CHANCE OF HEAVY RAIN FROM THIS STORM...ESPECIALLY ON THE COASTAL SLOPES OF THE MOUNTAINS IN WESTERN VENTURA COUNTY...

THIS SYSTEM WILL BE ALMOST UNPRECEDENTED IN TERMS OF COLD WEATHER AND SNOW LEVELS FOR SEPTEMBER IN SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA. MANY LOCATIONS MAY WELL SET RECORD LOW MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES ON FRIDAY...WITH TEMPERATURES MORE TYPICAL OF JANUARY RATHER THAN SEPTEMBER.

THE EXACT TRACK OF THIS SYSTEM WILL HAVE A SIGNIFICANT BEARING ON OVERALL RAINFALL AMOUNTS AND TIMING. AT THIS TIME...THE BEST ESTIMATE FOR RAINFALL IS BETWEEN ONE QUARTER AND ONE INCH IN MOST AREAS...BUT THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWESTERN FACING COASTAL MOUNTAIN SLOPES COULD RECEIVE BETWEEN 1 AND 3 INCHES OF RAIN.

AS THE SYSTEM MOVES EAST OF THE AREA LATE FRIDAY NIGHT AND EARLY SATURDAY...THE THREAT OF SHOWERS WILL DECREASE ACROSS THE REGION.
Great. I feel SOOOO much better now... (sarcasm)
