Panic

Dana just called. She needs the itemized list. I said I sent it on Monday. She said she got that one, but not the one she sent in response. I never got it. She's panicked since this afternoon begins the Jewish Holy Days (tomorrow is Rosh Hashanah; they last until Yom Kippur next Saturday... a week and a half), Fred and Dana will be pretty much out of the loop. So she wanted the list today so that she could order... Monday's list is already on order.

Fifteen minutes later, it's in my inbox. Luckily, much of it (appliances) Lisa and I had already penciled in; others (like bathroom sinks, mirrors, kitchen hardware, exterior lights) we had been given the impression by Fred that we would be picking those out with him (or at least at "his" suppliers) in the next month. So now I'm in a kind of panic.

Another fifteen minutes, and Dana calls again. Frank at the site needs to talk to me about picking out and up the tub for downstairs as well as the front door (and kitchen door... but it seems NOT the master bedroom door.... hmmm). She gives me his number and I call.

Yep, he needs all that stuff, particularly the tub and the doors. I ask if the old front door is usable... he thinks, so, but he'll need to check (he's not at the site now... in Camarillo, picking up shingle color samples from which Lisa and I will need to choose, as they want to begin roofing before the end of the week).

So I look over the list we put together... the tub's the wrong size. I've got a 60" on my list and the plans call for a 66". Another example of Lisa's earlier concern that architect David may have gone too "Special Order" on us... we might have to deal with a 60" and soffit the remaining 6" (I'm making an executive decision as I key this in now).

So now I wait for Frank to call to let me know he's at the site, so I can go down and pick out shingles, see if the door is ok, check the size of the kitchen door, and check on the tub. Plus, Kyle's coming home (probably right about that time), and Jack's got basketball tonight at 5:30 (and it's been a rough day for him, losing both his tooth and his homework today). And Lisa's got meetings until 5:30 (which is probably when the recommended supply place closes... need to check on that). Ferguson's (tub?) closes at 5, Contractors' Warehouse (doors) at 9.

I just took a shower and I'm sweating like I'm in the freaking tropics... got to calm down.
