A Porch Appears

Drove by the house this morning after dropping off Jack and Lisa at school (having not gone by last night: Kyle was sick and didn't go to practice)... and found a new porch!

and it's a biggie...


Looking at it through the stair window,

I have to wonder if the window is going to shrink or disappear altogether... I hope not (we're going to need it for morning light into both floors).

The garage shingles are gone...

and the first floor roofing had grown...

roofing must be on the way (though I thought this would be after stucco [and the next check]).

Progress continues!


UPDATE: just got off the phone with Hickox from the City. I explained the 1 vs. 1.25 issue that Dana told me; he took the sprinkler designer's name and number. He's going to coordinate with the designer. On the plus side, he has a contractor bidding a water main leak fix on Dahl (just around the corner), so he sent him over to our place to check the situation and estimate it out. Hopefully, this will move faster than yesterday's Tuesday's "month" estimate.
