Slow Progress

Last night, I drove by the house. Didn't see much progress, other than more cleaning,

(Is this the start of the lumber for framing?)

an empty dumpster,

[I saw the dumpster get hauled away when I was on my way back from lunch yesterday... did we lose two days for this? (these guys have to realize that they have to call the City 24 hours in advance to get the dumpster hauled... I would hate to lose any more days over this... of course, how many more dumpster-fuls are we going to have???]

and forms for more footings in the bath and the master bedroom.

Went for a bike ride this morning (in what I hope will NOT be a vain attempt to lose some weight from my carcass). At 9am (on my way out), there was no one there. At just before 10 (on my way back in), someone had been there: the gate was open, but no one was there at the time. Troubling... both on the lack of personnel and the lack of progress.

I went home, did some work, and took a shower. Then before lunch, around 11:45, I cruised back out.

The older supervisor had a younger worker with him. He was cleaning up a small concrete job

(using the neighbor's hose... not sure if that's OK or not... I'm sure he asked [he seems like a very respectful person and very polite]... but I don't want to put the neighbors out (even though they received our old security doors after demo).

They had poured the foundations/footings in the bath

and the master bedroom.

I asked what was next. In broken English and gestures, I got the feeling framing will begin.

When, I asked.

Tomorrow. So I'm figuring they'll finish the subfloor work this afternoon, and the real exciting progress will begin in the morning. And we should get a call from Fred today or tomorrow.

At least I hope that's what'll happen... I'm itching to see more progress... we're a third of the way through the month... and I want to go home...
