GIDDY-UP!

A busy day... I worked on some work stuff (since I missed some of Friday with dropping Kyle off at water polo camp and Lisa's doctor's appointment, and I'll miss some of tomorrow with picking Kyle up, and some of Tuesday with some legal issues [that I'm sure I'll discuss on that day... but it's just too ridiculous to discuss now as Sunday races to a close and I try to get all this in]) while Lisa starting prepping her classroom for school (just two weeks away).

After a couple of hours of work, I picked Jack up from her classroom to take him to see Underdog (quick review: avoid this movie like the plague... it is--quite simply--HORRIBLE). I had originally thought I would cruise by Maxine first, figuring I'd see what progress they made yesterday.... but a phone call from Joni this morning told me that they were working on Sunday... and I found them, taking their lunch break... a well-deserved break...

The front of the house greeted me with a more framed-out breakfast nook bay window...

Lisa and I, last night, noticed that the framing of the nook started down on the ground, whereas the plans actually had it jutting out from the wall, kind of floating above the porch. This looks much more like it's standing on the porch itself. If that's the case, Lisa and I are fine with that; in fact, we like it better than the whole "floating" thing. This detail shot of the porch shows that framework (as well as the beginnings of the sidelight to the left of the front door)...

The dining room windows now have bottoms to their casements...

In the master bedroom, the wall to the closet now has its Hardy Frame (for shear-strength, and--we think--to help support the second floor):

Here's the view into the closet from the east, through the door:

The master bathroom has an opening to the exterior where that problematic door may go...

The laundry room now has a solid wall behind it (not just framing... and you'll see why in a minute):

The kitchen's breakfast nook looks pretty cool from the north, looking out the front...

And now the entry is taking shape, and it feels so much roomier than the original house's version:

But the main attraction at this moment in time is this:

THE STAIRWAY... this proves we're going up! Check out that landing... and here you can see how the lower section of steps will reach the landing...

(the solid wall behind it is the same wall behind the laundry room)

From the side, it's just too cool to see the outlines of where the steps will be:

The house looks a little different from the timelapse view...

The changes are pretty cool, and since they're prepping for more work as I leave, I make sure to go back in the afternoon with Lisa (and Dad, who'll join us for dinner after passing on the aforementioned 'Dog of a movie)... and we do see some changes... And I take more pics... they're all available on the Photo Viewer...I'm just not putting them all on the blog entry... it's just that they become a little redundant after a while (and the cynic in me thinks "oops, too late")...

Oh, all right, here are a few more pics (since I know some of these are pretty damn cool)... here's the eastern wall (with the door to the left, another Hardy Frame to its right, and a nice big kitchen window [with bottom casement] to the right... that's where the sink will go... washing dishes we'll be able to see the Coreys' dogs Mimi, Velma, and Ginger)...

The huge gaping hole in the west wall of the master bedroom has been filled and a high window has replaced it:

The lower section of the stairs (up to the landing) is finished!

It's so cool,

that I can't resist climbing the stairs and taking a gander... the great room looks just that from the landing:

And we can see what tomorrow might bring... the next set of steps?

Here's the beginnings of the under-the-stairs storage area (or where Harry Potter would've lived at the Dursleys)...

The view of the great room from the entry is great, too, except for some construction debris on the floor...

There's more debris in the front, more to fill the already-filling dumpster:

So it's all VERY cool. And Lisa and I (and Dad) are thrilled with the progress. I'm giddy... and we're moving on UP!

Can't wait for the next week...
