It's Marcy from the front office.
I say Joni's my friend. Marcy says something about her not being buzzed in. I hold up the remote control for the gate. At that point, she recognizes me. She asks why I didn't just buzz her in from the condo via the phone. I told her we don't have the phone thing. Why not? Because I'm not paying $50 for the phone hookup (as opposed to another $25 for another remote control). But she says they're free.
BULLFUCKINGSHIT.
I said that we had been told they were $50. She says at the time we moved in (while the gate was broken, I'm sure), they were $25, but now the cost is waived. They're free. [NOT, mind you, that we've received THAT memo...] I should come by the office and get that set up... we can have it linked to our cell phones. Of course, I tell her, we have no cell reception at the condo. Or the house land line, she says. [whatever] I tell her Lisa's at the pool now; Lisa can drop by and get that hooked up. She says the office is closed now, but Lisa can come by in the morning.
I walk into the condo and look at the clock: 4:30. And the office is closed. But the manager is coming IN through the gate. But the office is closed for the day. [Lisa tells me now, as I key this in later, that it's even better... Marcy was on the way OUT the gate, left the complex, turned around, and followed Joni in, just to get the info...]
God, I hate this place.
But as I key this in, I can take some solace in looking at the calendar. Today is August 1.
Just five more months.
[of course, since the City only picked up the dumpster this afternoon, it is unlikely that there's much visible progress made today, so I don't even bother heading over to Maxine... we stay at
