But then as I turned to look at the work being done, I didn't see framing... I saw something different:

Notice any changes from yesterday? The flooring framing is gone and is being replaced. It would appear that we failed our inspection today (a first, I think).
The kitchen floor framing has yet to get its cross-members,

but what is obvious in comparison with yesterday's

is the absence yesterday of a rail that goes along the length of the extisting concrete foundation (the cross-members were just tied into the existing ones. Now the existing cross-members are butted against a rail, a second rail is bolted to the new/existing rail, and the cross-members (-to-come) will be tied into the rails).
And it will looke something like this on the dining room:

Elsewhere in house, we can now see where the new wall between the stairs and laundry room will go:

And in the master bedroom, there are no longer any walls (or fixtures) in the bathroom:

And they've expanded the hole in the master bedroom's west wall.

It had just been where the old window was and the area below. Now they've blown out the whole width of what was obviously at one point a sliding glass door (or at least the header for one). I wonder if they was "suggested" by the inspector today as well.
So it's pretty disappointing. Fred had said there would be setbacks. And we knew in our hearts that there would be. It's just tough to actually see one. And now Juan Antonio's question of yesterday (Will we be back in the house by Christmas?) seems almost like a cruel hoax, or a jinx, or SOMEthing painful and ironic. We lost a day earlier this week waiting for the dumpster to be swapped out, and now instead of starting framing today, we'll be luck to start framing next Tuesday (as no work... or at least no inspection) will take place during the weekend, and it's unlikely that the re-framing of the kitchen AND the re- (and hopefully successful) inspection AND the commencement of framing can all take place on Monday.
