Met with Fred briefly today. He had the plans for the cabinets. After going over them with Lisa, there's a couple of issues we need to address. The plans still aren't clear on the wall hood (as opposed to an under-mount model). Also, the island calls for a built-in microwave, whereas the plans call for (and we want) a simple cabinet with an electrical outlet in it to hide the microwave... we don't want to have to pay for the facing that's necessary for the built in model. Also, the island plans don't address the cabinets that are supposed to cap the ends (since we're losing the full structure).
He seemed also to forget that we wanted wood flooring throughout the first floor (as he asked if we were going to carpet the bedrooms)... he also mentioned cost overruns in the wood flooring... that's something else that we'll need to address.
He says he'll have tile and wood samples in the next two days. The color / finish coat of stucco should go up late next week. Sanding the interior in prep for finish work should happen sometime this week, if the high humidity dies off.
He's concerned about the wetness in both the master bath and dad's room (I hadn't noticed the latter yesterday). He says he understands the bath issue (as it's under the not yet fully waterproofed upstairs deck), the but the bedroom issue bothers him.
He wants to start two finish crews next week, to push the pace to finish.
Let's hope it works out...
